Although not within striking range of the championship title, Adrian Zaugg claimed pole position for the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo penultimate race in Navarra today. As the PRO-AM championship comes down to the wire, the front row of the grid will be occupied by the South African, and the second placed PRO-AM crew of Bernard Delhez/Dimitri Enjalbert.
The Championship leader, Cédric Leimer, could do no better than P3, but holds the advantage of a 19 point cushion ahead of the final pair of races and together with his team-mate, Frenchman Julien Piguet, will start alongside Andrea Amici, who in third place in the PRO-AM series also retains an outside shot at the title.
Lamborghini’s VIP guest driver, Paolo Necchi & factory team-mate Mario Fasanetto recorded highly creditable 5th fastest time, with Laurent Jenny/Hervé Leimer leading the amateurs in qualifying 6th as Roberto Tanca, challenging to pick up the runner’s up place in the amateur series, failed to convert his practice form and ended the qualifying session in fourteenth.
With the expectation of rain and variable weather in Los Arcos, race 11 commences at 0900hrs tomorrow, with the final round of the series scheduled for 1255hrs CET.

“I am very pleased with our qualifying performance. We took some new tyres and used them to best advantage to set the second quickest time. Bernard had a few problems in the car during practice and as the track was new to him, he didn’t have a lot of time to familiarize himself with its technical nature. So we kept the laps limited in qualifying, but we are very confident about the race tomorrow.”

“The strategy is to take it easy and not take any risks, so we start tomorrow in third position. It is not perfect, but we can have a good race from here. Cédric will start the race tomorrow and of course, we will be completely focused on the championship. ”
2013 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Press Conference & car unveiling
Tomorrow at 1145hrs at the Circuito de Navarra, Automobili Lamborghini’s President and CEO, Stephan Winkelmann will host a press conference with Maurizio Reggiani, Research & Development Director and Head of Lamborghini Motorsport and Alain Delamuraz, Vice President & Head of Marketing, Blancpain, to outline plans for the 2013 Super Trofeo, before presiding over the unveiling of the Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo 2013 race car.
