Audi once again “best training company” in 2017

•Winner in “Automobile Manufacturer” category of FOCUS MONEY study
•Dieter Omert, Head of Vocational Training and Expertise Development at Audi: “The dual training system is an essential component of our success”

Audi is one of “Germany’s best training companies” for the second time in succession. According to a study by FOCUS MONEY magazine, the company offers optimal conditions for apprentices in the “Automobile Manufacturers” category. A total of 940 companies from more than 50 sectors participated in the nationwide study.

Audi takes on approximately 800 apprentices at its two sites in Germany in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm each year. The company carries out vocational training for 20 occupations with a special focus on the future topics of digitization and electric mobility. For example, future mechatronics learn to control and program complex production equipment, while high‑voltage technology is a fixed component of the automotive mechatronics apprenticeship. And all apprentices use tablet computers as learning aids, thus acquiring additional media and IT competence.

“The dual training system is an essential component to help us on our way into a successful future,” stated Dieter Omert, Head of Vocational Training and Expertise Development at AUDI AG. “That’s why we place value on innovative, dynamic training concepts and are delighted by how enthusiastic our apprentices are about our approach.” Employee Council member Jürgen Wittmann said: “We make sure that our apprentices have the best social and financial conditions at Audi. They can look to the future confidently and develop their creativity.”

The assessment criteria of the FOCUS MONEY study included training success and pay, as well as aspects such as the offer of special support programs or dual courses of study. Audi scored well also in those areas. For example, apprentices at the Audi site in Neckarsulm have the possibility to undergo a dual course of study in collaboration with the Baden‑Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW). And in Ingolstadt, talented young people can combine a technical bachelor’s degree course or an IT master’s degree course with extensive practical experience at the company in the “Audi dual” program. Furthermore, the company has been supporting socially disadvantaged young people with a ten‑month entry‑level qualification for more than ten years.

The application period for the 2018 trainee‑entry year starts in July 2017.
