•Extension until 2020 as starter for negotiations on “Audi.Future” pact
•Board of Management Chairman Rupert Stadler: “This agreement is an important basis for the company’s future success”
•Board of Management Member HR Thomas Sigi: “It secures jobs over the long term at our sites in Germany”

Audi is extending its employment guarantee for its approximately 61,000 employees in Germany for a further two years until 2020. According to Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, the current agreement will be followed by further negotiations with the General Works Council. The aim is to achieve a comprehensive pact in combination with an even more long-term job guarantee extending far into the next decade.

Stadler announced the employment guarantee at the company meeting held at the Ingolstadt plant on Monday. Amidst the strategic refocus, the emissions issue and the situation of extremely challenging markets, it is important for the company to send out a signal. “Especially in uncertain times, we want to give our employees a guarantee. I am personally delighted with this first result. As the next step, we want to make Audi even more fit for the future.” Discussions on this subject with the General Works Council are to begin very soon. With the “Audi.Future” agreement, the automobile manufacturer plans to implement the key points of its 2025 corporate strategy. In the context of the negotiations for example, Audi aims to expand its technological expertise in Germany and to strengthen the efficiency of the domestic plants. The question of where to locate the production of additional electric models and ideas for future‑oriented business sectors are also on the agenda. The pact is also to include a further job guarantee to protect employment for the permanent workforce until far into the coming decade.

Audi’s Board of Management Member for Human Resources and Labor Relations Director Thomas Sigi stated: “Our goal for the “Audi.Future” agreement is clear: We will qualify our team for the challenges of digitization while creating a modern working environment at Audi. We see the extension of the job guarantee until 2020 as only the start. We will protect jobs at our plants in Germany also over the long term. The course has been set so that we can progress together and focus fully on the company’s success.” Audi’s Board of Management and Works Council plant to sign the “Audi.Future” agreement next year.
