September 2009: Best month for Audi in China

· New best in September: more than 15,000 vehicles delivered in a single month for the first time (up 37 percent)

· 108,859 vehicles sold in the first nine months of the year

· Sales Board Member Schwarzenbauer: “2009 will be a record year for Audi in China”

Ingolstadt/Changchun – AUDI AG sold a total of 108,859 vehicles in China (including Hong Kong) from January through September. This represents an increase of

20 percent on the corresponding prior-year period. In September, the brand sold over 15,000 cars in a single month for the first time ever, recording an increase of 37 percent on the same month last year. This makes September Audi’s best month ever in China.

“We have significantly increased our sales in China in the past few months and are on course for a new record year,” says Peter Schwarzenbauer, Member of the Board of Management for Marketing and Sales at AUDI AG.

Deliveries of the Audi A4L were up 53 percent in the first nine months of the year: Audi has already handed over 24,763 units of its long-wheelbase midsize sedan to customers this year. The A6L, which is likewise built in Changchun, also achieved a new best with 73,966 units sold (up 16 percent). Audi is therefore the clear market leader in the premium segment in China.

The brand expects to achieve additional growth by expanding the range of locally built cars. Just a few days ago, Audi and its Chinese joint venture partner celebrated the opening of a new assembly hall in Changchun and the simultaneous start of production of the Audi Q5.

In addition to increasing production capacities, Audi will expand its exclusive network of dealerships and service facilities in China to include more than 200 locations by 2015. China currently has 139 Audi dealerships, 14 of which are Audi terminals, in a total of

88 cities. Audi has been present in China for 21 years now.
