• Honored for personal dedication to the process of transforming Hungarian industry
• Dreves: “Also a tribute to the outstanding performance of Audi Hungaria”
• Honor presented by President Pál Schmitt and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán Budapest

Hungary’s parliament yesterday presented Frank Dreves with the Republic of Hungary’s Order of Merit. Hungarian President Pál Schmitt and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán honored Dreves, Member of the Board of Management for Production at AUDI AG and Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of Hungaria Motor Kft., for his service in the process of transforming Hungarian industry.

“I am greatly honored to accept the Order of Merit from the Republic of Hungary,” Dreves said during the award ceremony. “This honor is also a tribute to the outstanding performance of Audi Hungaria, which has acted as an important driver in contributing to the restructuring and development of the Hungarian economy following the fall of the Iron Curtain.”

Dreves has supervised the development of the Audi subsidiary in Gy?r since the company was founded, and is firmly convinced of the capabilities of the plant and its employees. “Audi Hungaria will contribute significantly to our growth strategy and will thus also play a major role in the future of the Hungarian economy,” Dreves emphasized. The automotive production plant at Audi’s site in Gy?r will be expanded over the next three years.

The car bodies for the Audi models assembled in Gy?r have up to now been produced in Ingolstadt and transported to Hungary by rail. In the future, the plant will have its own complete production chain including press shop, body manufacturing, paint shop and assembly. The company will invest about €900 million for this by the end of 2013.

Starting in 2013, the plant at Gy?r will produce 125,000 cars annually. In addition, the car manufacturer is creating 1,800 new jobs at its Hungarian site. By expanding the plant, the company, along with its suppliers and service providers, will secure jobs for more than 15,000 people. As Board Member for Production at AUDI AG and Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of Audi Hungaria, Dreves worked intensively in support of this decision in favor of the Hungarian site. Frank Dreves began his career at AUDI AG in 1982. From October 1, 2004 to January 31, 2007, he was Plant Manager at the Audi plant in Ingolstadt. Dreves has been Member of the Board of Management for Production at AUDI AG since February 1, 2007. In February 2007 he also became Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of Audi Hungaria Motor Kft.
